Author & Book Promotion: If They Only Knew Author: Darren A. Daulton
Challenge: Former Major League Baseball catcher Darren Daulton had been known for his leadership and play with the Philadelphia Phillies. He had recently begun to publicly discuss his new beliefs involving concepts in metaphysics, including such topics as astral travel and dimensions. With an interest in explaining his beliefs more fully, Darren put all of his thoughts into the book, "If They Only Knew."
Building Blocks: Hawkins + Company used a full complement of promotional methods to increase awareness of the publication and generate book sales.
Beginning with the development of all of the marketing and PR materials, the campaign included dedicated website pages, in-person appearances for the author and a wide distribution of media materials, with national contacts.
Hawkins + Company also edited the manuscript prior to publication and was able to use concepts and research generated there to strengthen the marketing materials.
Hawkins + Company also developed and managed the e-commerce program for sales and customer service, creating the online store, procuring and managing inventory and handling fulfillment.
Results: The book was released in October of 2007, but the media appearances made by the author during the pre-release period had already generated great interest and sales. The interviews secured for the author gave him the opportunity to thoroughly discuss his views and he has indicated that he may be writing a second book on these topics.
