Life Lessons from Sports: Never Give Up
Jason Lezak, center, 2008 Beijing Olympic Games

Beijing, August 2008

The 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing gave the world one of the most exciting freestyle relay races in sports history.  The men of Team USA defeated the team from France in the 4 x 100 meter event when anchor swimmer Jason Lezak touched the wall a mere .008 seconds ahead of his opponent.

But this was the view from above as Jason approached the turn after the first 50 meters - that's him in the center.  Despite the fact that Alain Bernard of France, to Jason's right, had almost a full body length lead, Jason never gave up.  Despite being behind one of the world's fastest freestyle swimmers and having only a little more than 50 meters to go, Jason Lezak never gave up.

The result was an awesome win for Team USA - check out Garrett Weber-Gale and Michael Phelps in the photo at right - and the lesson for everyone - whether in sports or in life - is to keep going, to work harder and to never give up!
