New nonprofit, 501(c)(3) group aims to bring hope  through support

GLENDALE, AZ - (March 28) -Colorful postcards, bright and fanciful stickers and cheerfully decorated packages are welcomed by just about everyone.  But for brain tumor patients and their loved ones they carry a special message of joy and hope when they are from the new brain tumor support organization, The Gray Matters Foundation.

Formed by 9-year brain tumor survivor Lanette Veres, the nonprofit Gray Matters Foundation’s mission is to brighten the lives and outlook of brain tumor patients and their families through personal contact and support, and to spread love and kindness to help them meet their special needs.

“As a survivor I know what it feels like to be told that you have a brain tumor.  The fear and uncertainty are terrifying,” said Veres.  “It’s not a diagnosis that makes someone smile, but a smile and some happiness is exactly what can make a bad day a good one for the patient.  Our goal with the Gray Matters Foundation – and my passion - is to make a survivor or loved one smile.”

Hundreds of individuals and families around the United States have received a special Gray Matters package with a card or gift since Veres founded the organization.  Veres, who will serve as the organization’s President and is an active participant in her community’s brain tumor support activities, will build a network of people and lead them in providing this one-on-one personal support.  She will continue to travel around the United States to speak about her experiences and to promote public awareness about brain cancer and tumors.
