NFL Pro Brian Leonard to Host

Third Annual Brian Leonard Football Camp

Gouverneur High All State Selection and Rutgers University All-American Opens Registration for

June 30 to July 3 Camp for Participants Entering Grades 1 through 12

TOMS RIVER, NJ – (2011) - Cincinnati Bengals Running Back Brian Leonard has made a mark on every football field he has played on, beginning as a young Pop Warner player through his current professional career.  Leonard has now announced the opening of registration for his third annual football camp to be held at The State University of New York at Potsdam, in Potsdam, New York, to help young players to reach their own athletic goals.

Since its inception in 2009, the Brian Leonard Football Camp (www.leonardcamps.com) has brought young football players together with skilled coaches and NFL pros to provide a learning experience to improve their play and provide recruitment opportunities.

Camper Darren Fuller, a 2009 camper, found his place on a college team as a result of his participation. Coach Matthew Wright of Hamilton College, a camp instructor, assessed Fuller’s skill and potential and began recruiting him to join his squad. Wright notes that, “Darren grew into a role on the Hamilton defensive squad as a freshman, at defensive end, and started several games during the 2010 season.”

“The Hamilton College coaching staff is very excited about the 6’3”, 230-pound former Gouverneur High School standout,” he continued.  “He is already the strongest player on the team in the weight room, and tested at the start of winter workouts with a 340 bench and 497 lb. squat.”

The curriculum is designed for participants in Grades 1 through 12 with all skill levels, and offers options for both overnight and daily commuter campers.  Overnight campers will report on June 29, 2011 and commuter campers on June 30, with camp ending for both on July 3, 2011.  Daily sessions will feature instruction, skills drills, and non-contact game competition led by experienced high school and college coaches.

Leonard, who joined the Bengals in 2009 after two seasons with the St. Louis Rams, will be an active part of the camp’s daily program and provide hands-on instruction and guidance.  Leonard was a three-time All American at Rutgers University and is considered one of the greatest players in the history of the Scarlet Knights Football Program.  Brian graduated from Gouverneur High School in Gouverneur, New York

The Brian Leonard Football Camp is developed and operated by Elite Camp Services of Toms River, New Jersey.  Elite’s President, Shawn Kennish, is the former Director of Football Operations at Rutgers University.  Elite also operates the Shore’s Best Football Camp in Toms River, New Jersey, which will be held in June, 2011.  Information and a registration brochure for the Brian Leonard Football Camp is available at www.leonardcamps.com or by calling 732-597-3126.
