In 1987, after an outstanding college career at the University of Central Florida, Elgin Davis was drafted by the New England Patriots. Fulfilling a lifetime goal to become a player in the NFL, Elgin's selection was the culmination of his boyhood dream to be like his hero, the legendary Gale Sayers. As a young player in the Pop Warner Youth Football Program, he'd written the words, "Chicago Bears Here I Come" on his bedroom door.

Elgin wore the red, white and blue of the Patriots for several seasons before injury cut short his playing career. He retired in Florida, his home state, where he joined the business world, building a career in real estate.

Elgin has never forgotten the opportunities that playing in the NFL gave him and has made a commitment to give back to the community. A man who grew up in humble beginnings in Jacksonville, he knows what it is like to be given a hand to help rise up and overcome challenges. He knows the importance of helping others to achieve their goals despite adversity and with the formation of the Elgin Davis Foundation he will join with others to make dreams happen.

All of his life experiences have led Elgin to become a motivational speaker who inspires young and old audiences alike to strive to face challenges and become the best that they choose to be. Whatever the setting, Elgin's message of hope and a better future reaches the soul of the audience and provides a pathway to help people to live fuller lives, and realize and use their personal power.

Elgin is the author of Why Did It Happen To Me, his inspirational memoirs. The book that details his life and playing career was published in 2008.
